Grana Padano is one of the world's first hard cheeses, created nearly 900 years ago by the Cistercian monks of Chiaravalle Abbey (in Piacenza province). By the year 1477, it was regarded as one of the most famous cheeses of Italy. Made with raw and partially skimmed milk,it can last a long time without spoiling. The ageing process lasts for a minimum of 9 to over 24 months. At 9 months, each wheel iscarefully tested for appearance, aroma and texture. Rich in nutrients and very digestible, it is an excellent and healthy choice for the whole family.
